FENTANYL TEST STRIPS
This information was taken from DanceSafe, an organization
that has been offering Harm Reduction resources since 1998. And Harmreduction.org, the national harm reduction coalition.
This page contains all the instructions for using the strips. Please read everything on this page before using the strips. It is important you understand what fentanyl is, why it is so dangerous, and the limitations of the strips.
USING THESE STRIPS DOES NOT GUARANTEE SAFETY!
No drug use is 100% safe!
What test strips are and what they do…
Strip testing, also known as “immunoassay” testing, involves 1) diluting your drugs in a certain amount of water and 2) dipping a test strip into the mixture to get a positive or negative result for the presence of a particular drug. This test is very useful for determining if one specific drug (like fentanyl and its analogs) is in your sample.
Test strips are actually repurposed urine strips that are used in drug tests. Since they are very sensitive, it is extremely important to use the correct ratio of water to substance to avoid getting a false positive or negative.
What is Fentanyl?
Fentanyl and its analogs are highly potent synthetic opioids that are many times stronger than heroin. In North America alone, hundreds of thousands of people have died from unknowingly ingesting fentanyl-contaminated rugs. Accidental fentanyl overdose was the number one cause of death in people ages 18-45 in 2020.
About our fentanyl testing strips
If used correctly, our fentanyl testing strips can detect fentanyl and most of its known analogs, including carfentanil. They cannot however, detect all of them. A negative result does not guarantee that your drug sample is free of all synthetic opioids.
